Take time to smell the FollyFocks !

I was starting to make myself and Mr R some lunch and I asked her if she wanted me to make her something... she said no she had eaten a late breakfast and wasn't hungry, but she did ask what we were going to have.

" Whata you maka... a sangwhich?".

Translation... What are you making?... a SANDWICH?The other day while running some errands, we were looking for a street and Mamma said...

"I helpa you look for da ... sinus"

Translation... I will help you look for the ... SIGN

My nieces had been feeling under the weather lately and one even had a pretty high temp..(They are ok now, thank goodness) but Mamma was a little worried.. and said..

"Oh Dio... I hope de feel gooda soon... or maybe de Dottore giva dem an Antibiotich!"

Translation... Oh Lord.. I hope they feel better soon or maybe the Doctor will have to give them an ANTIBIOTIC!

These are just some of the wild and wacky words that take the place of the actual words, in our little part of the world...

I have vowed to try to remember and write down each as they happen... For your reading pleasure...posterity... and lets face it for laughs..

Let me share with you an all time great... That's My Mamma Story !!!!

We were still living at our old house...

Mom and Dad had stopped by for a visit...( at that time I had a really great garden going on)
anytime they would stop by, a trip down to the garden was a must... Pa was especially fond of looking things over. He would be mainly interested in the vegetables and the do's and don't of how things were growing...

Mamma and I were on the deck and I said.. Oh .. come around to the side of the house.. I have a new flower to show you..

The south side of the house was a perfect spot for growing things.. especially flowers.. I was really into the older breeds... sweet william, roses, astilabes, hydrangea, lily of the valley and my new pride and joys... DOUBLE Hollyhocks.. long tall stalks, deep Burgundy, pink and white... giant headed beauties..

as soon as she saw them, she was instantly taken with how lovely they were.

"Oh dis is so nice... how you call dis flower?"

Hollyhocks...

"Huh?" .....

Hollyhocks.... If you want, I can give you some of the seeds....

"OOOOh... Noooo!!!!"

"FOLLY FOCKS?"

"I no lika dis name... If somebody coma to my house and aska me how you call dis flower I tella dem Follyfock? ... Oh No !

She could not get the H sound and unfortunately when she said the word.... it sounded a bit naughty.. She was afraid if she planted them, that people might admire them and ask her the name... Unsure she could say it without sounding like she was swearing at them.

I didn't bring those seeds over in the move....

It's too bad too because, not only were they nice to look at, But now, when ever I see them...they make me laugh.

That's My Mamma !!!
