A Great KICK OFF... to the New Year !!!

Happy Happy New Year !!!
Ours is starting out preeeety darn good... You may have guessed it.. Yes.. we met with friends.... ( Man I could get used to this....)
Our Dear Dear Friends Don and Lesley invited us over for dinner and some football..

Dinner sounded great ... Football... Meh.. What eva... Here we have the King of the castle and his loyal canine.... PugsleyDinner was wonderful... ( Nice Job Les..)...

She likes football... and actually knows what is going on!!!
How or Why is totally beyond me..

I came prepared with some yarn to work on while the jocks watched the game.. however once I took my yarn out.. Lesley brought up some of this variegated baby yarn.

She was going to make a baby blanket as a gift...but never got around to it...

( The child is almost driving... OK well up and walking anyway) so I put my stuff away and attempted to share with her my extensive knowledge of crocheting.. The single stitch...

I know I'm a regular Martha Stewart... as we progressed Lesley ran downstairs to get more yarn.. and came up with THIS....She had STARTED a blanket way back when... and forgot about it... as well as forgetting how in the heck she did it...

The concentration on her face is mesmerizing.... Come hell or high water... She IS going to remember how she did this.....So much for my awesome crocheting skills...and teaching ability.

and the guys gathered with us at the table for some coffee .... dessert.... and of course

Mr R prepares for what's to come.....This is going to take some setting up... and Backing up....

He primes the story... Adds a little theatrics
and delivers the punch Looks like Mr R had something to add... I can't venture a guess

It's too bad these guys don't get along very well.. Oh look... someone is home from collage and back from a harrowing day at work.. Yes Emm... Aunt Marcy's attempt IS pitiful...

Thanks SO SO much guys... we had a great time.. What a great way to start the year!!!

Today I decided to get down to business and get the decorations put away...

BEHOLD !!!!

The dismantling of the holidays...

Taking down the tree and all the decorations is always a little sad for me... I mean the holidays ARE alot of fun...but at the same time.. it IS liberating not having ALL THAT STUFF.. crowding you out...

I am happy to report everything was put away without incident.. and it's great to have everything back to normal...

Oh... One more thing.....I have to share with you something a little embarrassing.. but sweet.. THIS is one of my gifts from Mr R...
They came in a couple of days after Christmas... Can you believe it.!!!

He got me Business Cards!!!

How funny is that... and so thoughtful... so.. now I've got to figure out how in the heck I am going to get rid of 250 business cards!!!
