Love the One your with...

Yesterday was February 4Th...

Ten Days...
count em.. TEN full days before Valentines Day!

Yet yesterday .... in between flipping turkey burgers

I heard the most lovely sound of the day

"Hi ... I'm Home!"

I shot back my usual

"Hi.. How was your day?"
and get in return

" Not too bad.. how about yours?"

(This exchange is assuming it's been a decent day for either of us... Sometimes this scenario can be much much different! )

Suddenly I hear the distinct rustle of paper..
As I peek around the corner of the stove area ....he takes off his coat and presents me with THESE.
Now .....can you see why he wears the illustrious crown of MR ROMANCE?

How flippin sweet is it that in the middle of winter... ten full days before the actual
"HALLMARK HOLIDAY"
he brings me flowers !!!
He's just not that typical guy...
I sometimes think I would make a really good "Typical Guy"...
I would be that guy ..
You know the one.. who thinks he's a genius because he bought his wife an ORECK vacuum cleaner...then can't understand why she's face down in her pillow crying ....

"But Honey..it only weighs 8lbs! and has great suction!"
AAhhh..... Sheer poetry to the female ear !!
The funny part of this whole thing is...

I would BE that odd woman who would be ecstatic about an ORECK.. or a new convection oven... Wuesthoff knives.... or even new sink pads ... for that matter...

What can I say... I'm easy....

( NOooo.....Not THAT way...)

It's not that I don't appreciate the romance..
It's just that the way I was raised..
Romance was never top billing around our house.. and on the extremely rare occasions that my folks did show each other any kind of "romantic" affection in front of us....
It kinda shocked us into zombie like trances that once broken free from would send us running to the bathroom to wash out our eyes..
"Ewwwww.... Mom and Dad kissed !!!"
Combine this with the fact that I am just tooo damn practical..
"Who needs a diamond... Let's use that money for new Hardwood floors !!!"
I know.. it's a buzz kill.

I think however..... if we have learned anything here on this post it is....

Keep it fresh guys.. surprise her with tokens of love..and not JUST on the "Typical" days that one would think... believe me..
she'll appreciate it more than you can imagine..

Well that and.....
Apparently...with my attitude....I would make a good Dude.

To help you keep it fresh... Valentines day ideas( No 78 ... is my personal favorite)

Now go out there and LOVE the one you're with...

Your flowers are beautiful....our hubbies are alike in that they like to do things when "not expected". I love getting flowers "just because" and not because it is a Hallmark day.

Hope the "keeping it fresh" continues into the weekend (wink wink)

Have fun!!!!
