Maria and I were commiserating Sunday Morning... and the subject came up about life lessons.

She AND her brother will tell you there has never been a lack of little life lessons spattered about in their lives..

If not from me.. then most definitely from Mamma.

You know.... those little stories that the "Old Folks" tell and retell..so much so that all you can do is roll your eyes and force yourself not to nod off.

Well..what you may not realize is ... subconsciously you have stored the story /lesson somewherein your medulla oblongata...

Down down deep at the sub cortex level you have been taught a lesson you will never forget.

(If it happens to have a snappy little Italian rhyme .... all the better.)

I had confided in my offspring that I was having some trouble coming up with topics to write about...

I mean come on.. MY PANTRY???.

That's when the brilliant child gave me the idea of jotting down

"Life Lessons"

At first I thought .. right.. how interesting could THAT possibly be?....

But then I thought....
( As...The theme from the Godfather played softly in the background of my thought bubble)

" I SHOULD leave my future lineage all these little Nuggets of wisdom!...

Future generations that I may never meet... would cherish the eloquence and insight passed on to them by their Sage For bearer."

I also remembered in light of my recent Pantry Post..... it couldn't hurt.

So I think I am going to take a stab at a series called..

Marcy's Life Lessons...

For our first installment.. I present to you..

ASSHOLERY... the mask of Fear and Insecurity.

I tell you .. I am not one for Tattoos.. but this one I would almost consider having inked.

Think for a moment if you will of all the Stupid... idiotic...malicious... bitter... venomous hateful things that you have witnessed in your life...

Mean spirited things said or done.

Stealing... Cheating.... Painful things... Wrongful acts injurious to others.

Now think deeply about what was really behind the assholery... really.

I would wager a hefty bet that FEAR or INSECURITY was behind it.

Everything from Wars ...

Nation against Nation.. to ... Basic Gossip.

I say Fear or Insecurity is the base cause of Malicious behavior in general.

So Where's the Lesson?

Then lesson lies on Your frame of mind and reference.

Though you may not condone or partake in said Assholery... You can control YOUR thoughts on how you will handle it.

The next time some Assholer accosts you with something hateful either in word or deed...

Try to think of them as a fearful little child ....insecure and unable to express themselves

You might actually be able to at least see where the stupidity is coming from and lets face it

A 2 year old???
You may be less likely to pop them the bird.
