Still TRYING to keep this blog thing going.. and I am finding it increasingly more difficult to do so… UGH…
I like the idea of documenting some of the big and little things going on around here.. Esp for friends and family who are far away.. So in that spirit, I’ll give you a little ( VERY LITTLE ) tour of a few new items in the homestead.
I think I may have posted this pic before.. but I don’t care… This is swiftly becoming my mantra!
And in this corner…..
The letter M is new.. I felt like that particular corner of the room was missing something… I think I found the missing link.
You might also notice on the left hand side is a picture of our little peanut..
Not only is HE new around here.. so is the frame.
It hails all the way from England.. it was a thoughtful birthday gift given to me by my lovely sister in law (& Brother in law too I suppose, although I’m sure he had little to do with picking it out.. I will still give him kudos for picking the gal who picked the frame….)
but I digress
This has got to be one of my favorite pictures of V… I mean look at that pout.. ugh.
Here’s another sweet gift from the Brits…
As some of you may know….
My “Lady Den” is painted in shades of blue and filled with birds..
So…..How perfect is this little storage box?
Under the “AVOID REALITY AT ALL COSTS” sign is another itty bitty change…
The closet door pulls… I found these little beauts 1/2 off at Hobby Lobby…
For $3 bucks.. I get a little whimsy..
Not too shabby eh?
Next room that is sporting some changes is the living room…
I have been wanting to change up the mantel for a long time.
Don’t get me wrong.. I LOVE the pendulum clock that used to be up there….I am very sentimental about it….. it’s just that I need a bit of a change… and since I can’t afford the wood floors or new windows I long for.. these little additions do my heart good.
So lets start with the most obvious.. the starburst mirror…
My mom and dad had a similar one back in the day…
( Now that I think of it theirs had a clock in it..)
It is only lately that I can appreciate many of the 60’s retro looks that are seemingly all around us.
All I can say is ….
Groovy Man!
Next we have a pair of Faux candles/holders.. That’s right folks… hidden underneath, is a battery operated tea light..
Niiiice.
I have to say that Mr R was not all together happy about all the changes going on.. especially when it came to the clock.
I will admit it is amazing how quickly our eyes drift to that spot on the wall that once housed the clock … only to find a psychedelic mirror.
I pretended that I was not bothered by it’s absence…
I lied..
I still feel the need to find out the time by looking up on the mantel
As luck would have it… I found this little gem (again at Hobby Lobby)
and because I pointed out a couple of teeny tiny chips in the base
( That I will be covering up with brown wood marker)
I was able to snag this bad boy at 1/2 off !!!!
Are you picking up a theme here???
Next in the living room we havesome new pillows…
Some of the old ones were shall we say a bit tired looking…
These were all very inexpensive….. 4 new pillows just under $40 !
They are just enough to boost the feel of the room…and make me smile when I walk into the room…. That is assuming they aren’t all on the floor… THAT doesn't NOT make me smile…
It's amazing how little it takes to freshen things up.It’s not new flooring but it’ll do.
The inside of the house is not the only area that has seen some changes..
Outside we have a new addition to the family as well..
This is Mr R’s Father’s Day… Birthday… Christmas… Easter… and Flag Day gift.
We needed a new grill pretty darn bad..
We needed something not too big
Not too small
Something JUST right…
Someone couldn’t be happier about it.
The man was down right giddy I tell you.. GIDDY !
Thought I’d take a picture of the inside while it was pristine….. It will NEVER look this good again.
So there you have it.
Hope you enjoyed the tour... Please exit to the left and have a great day !!
