Contrary to popular belief.. this is NOT a food critic blog..although I would have to say… I sure wouldn’t mind that job at all.
But I do feel it’s only fair to share a good place when you find one.. and tonight we found one.
Mike and Maria stopped by after their movie, so we invited them to stay for dinner, which in this case was going to be carry out pizza..( Fancy.. I know )
Some how we got on the subject of different cuisines and how Maria has really opened up to a lot of new foods and flavors.
One being Thai ( something she would have NEVER tried just a few years earlier )
Mike loves to try just about anything out there, and apparently he has been able to get her out of her food comfort zone as well. ( Thank You Mike you succeeded in two years what we could not do in 25)
Anyway one topic bunny trailed off to another and soon the topic streamed into Ethiopian Food. ( A cuisine neither Mr R nor I have ever had )
On there trip to Washington D.C. last year, the friends that Mike and Maria were staying with suggested a great little Ethiopian place they knew of.
They went
They saw
They liked.
So when the suggestion came up to try something new like this… we were all for it !
As luck and Google would have it, we found out that there was indeed an new Ethiopian Restaurant in downtown Plymouth a mere Hop Skip and a Jump away.
So we loaded up the car and we were off on a fantabulous gastronomical adventure.
The name of the magical place ?
The moment you walk in the door.. the exotic and mouthwatering smells put you right in the mood for something you know has GOT to be good.
We were also greeted by some of the locals…
While the entire place showed signs and art work of Ethiopia..The restrooms were labeled
Guys
And Dolls..
You’ve got to hand to a place that serves good food and a sense of humor.
We were offered our choice of a regular booth OR…
One of the basket tables..Now you know darn well if you are going to a place like this .. You gotta go basket or go home.
The art work was so interesting and could be found everywhere, including the side tables.
Bright and cheerful colors were the theme.![]()
We hadn’t even ordered yet and as you can see.. everyone (Well some more than others) were pretty stoked.
Finally…..our food.
Now I have to say.. looking at this picture you may not find it at all appetizing..
However….I have to vietmatley disagree.. This primarily vegetarian meal was outstanding !
Various lentils, collard greens, cabbage beef and two kinds of chicken were delicious and filling.![]()
And I can’t EVEN begin to explain this amazing Injera Bread. Oh… My… Gosh ! ![]()
This soft spongy bread was used instead of utensils..
( I know I was kind of leery of this myself ) but Hot towels before and after the meal as well as careful eaters made this quite a nice experience.
I also decided to try their own specially blended tea… I CAN NOT begin to tell how wonderful it was.
If you go there do yourself a favor and try it … ugh so good.
Not only was the food great.. the service was first rate.
I am so glad we were open to trying something new. It’s amazing how every place on this earth has it’s own version of wonderfully prepared food. You just gots to give it a try !!!
So Addis Ababa in downtown Plymouth.. You have my freshly toweled Two thumbs up.![]()
Thank You .. I think we are going to very good friends
After dinner we decided to stop off at the Cupcake station and buy a couple of extremely overpriced cupcakes.
I don’t have pictures of those because let’s face it.. who takes the time to take pictures of nummy cupcakes?.
It was a great (unplanned) night.
Thanks guys… we had a great time !!!
