Here’s to a memorable Memorial day!!

My brother and sister in law did a WONDERFUL job of getting everyone together…

It was filled with lots of Food.. Fun… and Family.

This dude saw the BBQ smoke wafting up from the backyard and just dropped in…How awkward.. what else could we do but offer him a beer.

(Ok.. I lied… He’s been around a LONG…LONG … LONG time and we’ve actually come to like him… shhh don’t tell him that)

Besides the day being filled with food.. fun.. and family… We decided to celebrate my birthday a few days early.

We had a such a great time… and the only thing that could have made it any better would have been to have Marty and Melissa with us… (Not too much longer!!! Yay !!!! )

But hey.. we had these Party Rockers so it all turned out ok.

Not to mention THIS bundle of sweetness.

“Hahahaha So… Nana..it’s your Birthday… I can’t believe you’re 52 !!”

“I mean 52 ?”

“ I am only 2 MONTHS old… so 52?…. that is like OLD… like really really OLD.”

“Ah… I don’t think that came out quite the way I meant it.”

Later that evening… we joined some of our friends
To help support Relay for Life.

It was an amazing event !

These girls did a fabulous job
I have to admit… the entire evening was very moving..

It’ something I won’t soon forget…

If you have a little extra dough …you might want to consider sending it to the American Cancer Society. They do a great job..
Hope you all had a good weekend as well… and that the the week ahead is a great one fer ya.

I’m sure mine will be riveting.

Let me just say… I have some very dignified and refined friends…These are not some of them… JUST KIDDING !!!!!
This is simply what you get when old friends from near and FAR… get together for dinner. We may not be young.. but we ARE young at heart.
Most of us have known each other since we were teens…
Kath and Mar (the blondies) have known each other since they were wee little babes.

Special Delivery… Raccoons Galore !!!

We had a special delivery today…
You see….We’d been hearing some odd noises up on the roof.. and in the attic.. (and I’m not talking Santa here.)
Not too long before all the clomping around…Mamma had seen a great big fat raccoon waddling across the street.
This…. coupled with the fact that our garage door had been left open just a crack while some clothes were drying… helped us deduce that she was probably scoping out the hood… and decided to campout ..at our place…
Aren’t we lucky….
So we called in the Professionals…
( We weren’t about to mess with a crazy ass raccoon ! )
So Tom from Critter Control came out and accessed the attic…

Baby raccoons… and I have to say… I fluctuated between feelings of…. Awwwwh.. how cute… to… Uggghh… I’m totally skived out.

Happy Easter everyone !!!
This year unfortunately Mamma isn’t feeling very well…. She’ fighting a bug for sure …. Ugh.
But the show must go on…..so…. the table was set with all kinds of fun breakfast items.Great Grandpa showed up and started digging in right away..

Mike and Maria made it as well… but the show stopper for sure was a certain little man.

After our lovely brunch.. everyone sat around chit chatting.. until of course it was time for dessert… The sacrificial bunny.. (Blue Bunny in honor of our little boy bunny.)
Maria opted for sweets of another kind…Baby Lips
I have to admit it’s a little unnerving how easy he caught on to how this little game works…
and how much he seemed to enjoy it…
People lock up your daughters…

In the meantime.. you are safe for a few years…
You have to admit..
they make such a cute little family.

Geeze… How could we forget the Fur baby?.
The geriatric group enjoyed every moment of this day for sure.
Even moments like this…I know we should not want to sit and stare at him when he is crying.. but even in these moments he’s so flippin cute.
Good thing he doesn’t have his choppers yet… Paybacks of not getting fed on time are a chomp of the finger.

Ahhhh…. fed… burped…. and changed…
What a difference.

I am starting to think it might be wise to charge a small fee to visit Vincent.

After all.... a couple bucks here and a couple bucks there..

We could charge $5 a pop per feeding... and... he does eat every few hours…. so….bingo bango… before you know you have a nice little collage fund going..

Just saying…

In the mean time Vincent’s dance card is pretty full these days…

Here he was visited by his Great Grandpa !!!

Who I think might have been a little nervous about holding a little guy.

If so….He got over that fear pretty quick …How great is this pic… Grandpa… Great Grandpa.. and Baby V !!!!

Today we had the next series of Baby ~~Hoggers~~… *cough … I mean Baby Holders…

Mrs G … a long time family friend..who pretty much knew Maria since she was Vincent’s age.. asked me out to lunch..

I in turn surprised her with a couple additional guests..

She was pretty happy about that..

When asked if she wanted to come home with us to feed the little guy?

She jump right on it…

I guess everyone gets a little nervous around a little peanut like this..

But …

It all comes back to you pretty darn quickly..

It’s like riding a bike.. only much softer.

Apparently So soft and cuddly that SOMEONE.. would not let him go…

Well… As you may have guessed.. I have been a bit preoccupied with a certain new man in my life…

We are sorry to interrupt your current Marchphotoaday post with special breaking news..

Mr R came up with a fun and exciting impromptu idea of taking a half day off and heading to Frankenmuth.

For those of you who don’t live here in the Mitt. Frankenmuth is also known as Little Bavaria.

It’s about an hour and a half drive from home.

The day was absolutely beautiful, Sunshine and 72 degrees ( I know.. and it’s March !!!)

The perfect day to walk around … see the sights and people watch.

One of the main attractions of this lovely little town is Bronners also known as The World’s Largest Christmas Store.

In spite the balmy weather.. Christmas was around us everywhere we looked.

The other main theme found throughout has a definite Bavarian slant.

In fact…. It was no big deal to see folks dressed for work in there pretty Dirndls and Lederhosen

German music wafting over the speakers of Main Street..It just makes you want to kick up your heels and dance a polka.

Ironically our first stop was not a culturally based store but more of a new age health store…

per the sign.

In general you could say the day was jammed packed with all things Bavarian ,Christmas and even Easter!

The entire town was festooned with Easter decorations.

Up and down the main drag, every home and business had some sort of Easter decoration.

It was just lovely.

Oh look… How nice of Mr R to want to help get a leg up.

The Maypole fountain was not up and running yet.

But it was still a whimsical site to see..

Cute huh?

Thought of my son when I saw this one.

The old covered bridge leads to and from the Bavarian Inn.

The water fall nearby.

Of the many shops that can be found at The River Place Shops

This one really caught my eye !!

EVERYWHERE you look … and I mean everywhere.. was a sea of material in Pepto Bismol Pink, this material was crimped and gathered on the walls and tables pulling off a pretty impressive look. If you like Pink.

I’ve never seen so many kinds of beaded jewelry !

Over all.. the time spent in Frankenmuth was Wunderbar !!

Oh.. and while I was there… I also managed to get the photo of the day…

Ok.. so the deal is… I took most of these pictures last year…and it’s a darn good thing I did… because today is another glorious day in the Mitt.

Sunshine 70 degrees ( I KNOW !!! and it’s still March !!! ) and not a cloud in the sky…

The first two here were taken when I first got my camera… Maria and I decided to go to a beginners Photography Class at the local Community College.

The task at the end of class was to look in and around the building for LINES.. which we did.. but that evening as we roamed the halls of the school… we looked out and noticed the evening sky…

It was truly this color… and … amazing.

This picture of clouds isn’t special in any way … but it does remind of summer days as a kid, just watching the clouds roll by.. sometimes forming shapes of animals or people.. one time I swear I thought I saw God up there.. an old man with a beard.. Why do we stop doing that?… watching clouds?

This shot was taken last year as I was coming out of Tarjay (Target)… Storms were brewing all over the state… luckily I had my little pocket Nikon and capture this beautiful … and yes.. a bit scary picture.

Clouds really can stir up a lot of feelings… Beauty…Fear.. Awe… Childhood…

So… Keep your head in the clouds… and your feet on the ground !!!

Somehow … someway… I completely forgot that I was hosting a gaggle of friends at my house tonight. ( Well if 7 women make up a gaggle then that’s what it was.) anyway.. I CAN NOT believe I forgot they were coming over tonight…(Thanks Stell for the email that got me in gear…)

I love these ladies dearly but somehow as hilarious as it might have been to see the looks on their faces as I answered the door already in my p.js …no make up … no bra (eeeewwww)

I am udderly ( pun intended) relieved that it didn’t happen…

Instead I booked it to Meijer’s for some goodies and I made some coffee.. It was( as usual) a delightful evening.. Thanks ladies for coming.. Thanks again Stell for saving myself and all of you what could have been a traumatizing evening.

The day was absolutly GLORIOUS !!!! Sunshine and high 60’s

Ironically….. I spent the day blissfully unaware of the hostessing duties that were ahead of me…and managed to have a lovely afternoon with Maria.. I actually even took some pictures as well..

So here we go..

I thought the next sign was kind interesting since it was a sign that says antiques and sorta looks like one itself.

This one makes me smile … I just love the little fireman sitting up front… Hat and all.

Although this may not be a typical “sign” …. it is a sign of spring and new life..

I don’t know if it’s the time change… or … Solar Flares or what the heck, but it’s been an unusual day…

Warm and Beautiful out. but unusual non the less.

I’m not going to bore you with the details … instead I will try to soldier on with the Photo Challenge.

Can you guess who’s mouth this is?….. Hmmmmmmm

They say the first step is admitting you have a problem…

“Hi … I’m Marcy … and I am loud” or at least I CAN be when I want to be.

Usually it’s in a good.. Fun Loving way…Sometimes though..Not so much.

So.. the question is.. what have we learned from today’s Photo Challenge.

1. Sometimes Photo Challenges force you to admit out LOUD... character traits you aren’t really proud of.

2. Photo’s of one’s mouth up close are never very attractive

3.Waxing… Threading .. Plucking or a combination of all three … are of the utmost importance for women… especially women over 50 of Mediterranean decent

4. Photo Challenges like this will make already unsightly moles and skin bumps on one’s face, look like they belong on an giant IMAX screen..and I don’t mean in a Robert Redford way… who by the way … if you close enough you will see also had these odd.. under the skin bumps..
Somehow he managed to look pretty darn good in spite of them…

Later however I think his entire face just said… enough!

and every single once hardy skin cell let go at once..Gravity has not been kind to Bob.

I can’t really explain how a Photo challange about the word LOUD has bunny trailed into a docudrama comparative study of dermatological similarities between me and an ageing once gorgeous movie star… but there you have it…

While I’m at it… I think I’ll just meander down yet another bunny trail…

MARCH 9TH : RED

I happen to LOVE red.. or as I describe it Cranberry.

There is something so warm about the deeper shades of red that kind of warm the cockles of my heart.

I’ve had a busy day today and almost didn’t get the challenge done.

But….Lucky for me I didn’t have to even leave my home to find A LOT of examples of beautiful beautiful (Cranberry) Red.

This was a Tarjey find… I flippin loved it then.. and I flippin love it now.

This red has extreme sentimental value…

This beautiful throw, was one of the last Christmas gifts my beloved Mother in law gave me.

This one one of the first red things I see every morning..

After all…..Cleanliness is next to godliness

Here is one of my all time favorite pairings… Cranberry red.. and Sage Green.
